Farmers

The Griffieon Family Farm, owned by Craig and LaVon Griffieon, is located north of Ankeny, Iowa. Their family has been farming in the Ankeny area since 1868 and their children are the sixth generation to live on the land north of town. In 2002, the Griffieon Family Farm was designated a Century Farm in Iowa.

They have a diversified farm raising beef, chickens, turkeys, pigs, sheep and horses, plus sweet corn and the grains of soybeans, corn, oats and alfalfa. Their commitment is to help people realize the importance of local food security and a community-based food system.
